Hours: Wednesdays from 8:15 am - 10:15 am
Greenwood is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to support outreach and service learning initiatives. The successful candidate will collaborate with Assistant Teachers and Directors to supervise and support student engagement during morning volunteering activities. This role will focus on enhancing meaningful service learning opportunities for students in Grades 7-12. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working hands-on with students to foster a strong sense of community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and implement the established volunteer program for grade 7-12 students.
- Ensure adherence to all program protocols, including attendance tracking, safety procedures (e.g., walking to Davisville), and transportation guidelines.
- Provide on-site supervision and guidance to student volunteers, redirecting them as needed, and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Encourage student participation, independence, and leadership development.
- Monitor student adherence to the volunteer agreement and address any concerns promptly (grade 9-12 students)
- Act as a liaison between the school and community partners, fostering positive and sustainable relationships.
- Represent the school effectively in community settings.
- Assist with the logistical aspects of program implementation, including scheduling, materials preparation, and record-keeping.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from a Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and community partners.
- Demonstrated ability to foster inclusivity and support diverse learning environments.
- Proficiency in using technology for planning, communication, and documentation.
- Passion for youth development and fostering a sense of civic engagement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the developmental needs of middle school students (Grades 7 and 8).
- Experience in coordinating service learning, outreach programs or education initiatives, preferable in a school setting
Compensation: $100/week
