Job description:
CFIS is seeking candidates for substitute teaching positions in French immersion for the 2026-2027 school year. Successful candidates will be available for occasional replacements of permanent teachers.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Implement and follow the daily program according to the plan provided by the teacher.
- Provide a report to the teacher regarding the educational activities completed or not completed during their absence.
- Working with students, individually or in groups, to develop their knowledge, skills and competencies.
- To ensure active and rigorous supervision of students at all times, as well as appropriate behavioral guidance at their developmental level.
- Participate in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming classroom environment.
- To support the continuous development and progression of students, in accordance with best practices in French immersion education.
- Supervise recreation and outdoor games, snacks, rest times and meals, according to the needs and plan of the teacher.
- Maintain a professional attitude and demonstrate loyalty to CFIS.
- To ensure confidentiality regarding students, their families and employees, both inside and outside the school.
- Follow the directives of the early childhood management, the primary school management, the secondary school management and the head of the institution.
- Perform any other related tasks, as needed.
Required qualifications:
- Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written.
- Bachelor of Education.
- Hold a valid Alberta teaching certificate or an Alberta interim teaching certificate.
The successful candidate will be required to provide an up-to-date police background check, including a vulnerable sector check, before commencing employment.

Salary:
$279.15 per full day and $139.58 per half day.
