Founded in 1909, Lower Canada College (LCC) is a gender inclusive, independent, university-preparatory day school for children from kindergarten through grade 12. Montreal’s leading global school, LCC has a rich history, an inspiring team of faculty, and a diverse and highly motivated student body. With a challenging academic program and extensive co-curricular offerings that include athletics, arts, design, service, debating, experiential education, and leadership, our focus is on fully developing each student in mind, body, and heart.
An IB World School, LCC is the only English high school in Montreal currently offering the Middle Years and Diploma Programmes.
LCC’s Junior School is a nurturing environment where ideas, inspiration and stimulation abound. From kindergarten to grade 6, students are immersed in a bilingual academic program that allows them to explore their creativity, cultivate their imaginations, and discover their potential.
The Middle School program is designed to bridge the gap between Junior and Senior School, providing an environment that strikes a balance between a warm support system and the need for self-reliance and mature organizational habits.
Senior School is rich with academic challenges, community initiatives, athletic and social activity. Students are encouraged to develop critical thinking skills and academic independence as they prepare for their future studies and become engaged members of society,
LCC offers Montreal’s longest-standing, one-year Grade 12/Pre-University program, providing a rigorous curriculum, academic advising, and allowing graduates to gain direct access to universities in Quebec, the rest of Canada and around the world.
As a global school, LCC promotes understanding and learning of world cultures, exposes students to different ways of thinking and living, and helps them prepare for their role in an evolving global society. A host of international opportunities are offered to Senior School students.
The school’s seven-acre campus includes playing fields, indoor and outdoor ice rink, arts centre, technology centre, four gymnasiums, a fitness centre, two libraries, a Fab Lab, and a dedicated kindergarten building.
